Liverpool is looking for a midfielder who can replace Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, and Fabinho as the main man in midfield.

Negotiations have stalled since the acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister, and it has taken some time before a second signing can be made.

While Khéphren Thuram, Ryan Gravenberch, Manu Koné, and Gabri Veiga are reportedly realistic and priority targets, Thuram and Gravenberch are the two leading candidates, according to Neil Jones.

“The vibe I’ve been getting when checking these things out with people at and around the club has been that Thuram and Ryan Gravenberch certainly are very much at the front of it; “

“Manu Kone and Gabri Veiga a little less; I think Levi Colwill is one they love, I don’t think there’s any chance they’re going to get him but I think they love him, there’s no question about that, as a player,”

Both players are open to playing at Anfield and discussions are underway with their agents. The first, however, is a bit in the dark, as there are reports that his club Nice will not sell him.

The latter has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with Bayern Munich, but the club seems to value the former Ajax midfielder’s talent and hopes to keep him in Germany beyond next season, and has shown no intention of letting him go at this point.

Both players are likely to be difficult to negotiate with the club, but after giving up Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount, Liverpool would like to get a midfielder who fits their requirements for reinforcements, and Jörg Schmadtke’s skills will continue to be tested as an new sporting director…
