Jurgen Klopp, who was relieved of his duties as Borussia Dortmund’s leader after the 2014-15 season, took over as Liverpool’s leader in October 2015 to hasten the rest of the season. He was tasked with rebuilding a team that had been struggling under Brendan Rodgers.
In his first season, he led the team to the Europa League final and then to the Champions League final in the 2018-19 season. After failing to win any trophies in either of those two seasons, the team reached the CL final again in the 2019-20 season, giving them the Big-ears they had been longing for.
The following year, they won the long-awaited Premier League title, reaching the top of the English table for the first time in 30 years. While the club continued to compete with Manchester City for the title, winning both the League Cup and FA Cup in the same season, and establishing a golden era for the club for the first time since the 1980s.
After a poor season last year, the team is working on a major reshuffling of its midfielders in order to turn things around next season. The German coach, who has accomplished many great things, plans to leave Anfield after 2026, when his current contract expires, and spend some time resting, according to The Athletic’s James Pearce.
“In terms of Klopp potentially staying beyond 2026, I think it’s unlikely – I’d expect him to take a break at the end of his current deal”
Steven Gerrard failed in his first attempt at the Premier League and has no promising successor at the moment. Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is also building his reputation at Bayer Leverkusen, but the story has only just begun and Real Madrid is monitoring the coach’s development.
On the other hand, a long-term regime would not look good, as Manchester United fell into chaos after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsenal after the departure of Arsene Wenger, and it would be ideal to pass the baton to a promising manager at the end of this contract.
So, how will Liverpool’s managerial personnel move forward in the next two years…?
