Liverpool has activated the release clause in the contract of Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, paying €70m to sign him from RB Leipzig, and he will now officially play at Anfield if his medical check are clear.
Newcastle United was believed to have been the most interested in the player, but the tide has turned in the past week, with Liverpool snapping up the Hungarian gem with their usual swift decision-making. He will follow Alexis Mac Allister as a piece to revitalize the midfield.
According to the Daily Mail, the new midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai’s weekly salary was mentioned, and he will get £80,000 a week. Although the specific amount has not been disclosed, a significant salary increase is also expected depending on his performance.
Referring to “Spotrac”, it is expected to be between Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate. Gomez receives a salary of £85,000 per week, while Konate receives £70,000 per week. It’s a position where salaries are likely to rise, but it also has the potential to be a player on par with top-earning Mohamed Salah.
In the same career as Naby Keita and Konate, he made the step up from RB Leipzig, where he also worked with former Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino during his time at RB Salzburg, and it will be interesting to see if the finest talent Red Bull Group has produced can prove himself in the Premier League.
