Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboslai now joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig. Two years after stepping up from Austria to the Bundesliga, he has had a smooth sailing career, earning the right to challenge for the world’s best Premier League.
The Hungarian No. 10 is an attacking midfielder but can also play on the wing. His goals, assists, and scoring style of play are highly regarded, and he is certainly a welcome addition to Liverpool’s squad.
Former Leeds manager Jesse Marsch, who coached Szoboslai during his time at RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig, has spoken of the player’s outstanding ability in past interviews, comparing him to former England midfielder David Beckham.
“I describe him as a modern-day David Beckham,”
“Beckham had a real ability to hook a ball and he could also chop it when he needed to, but Szoboszlai can hit the ball a lot of different ways too, and he’s got power.”
The Hungarian midfielder is expected to play well despite his first time in the Premier League, and his national team colleague, 28-year-old midfielder Zsolt Kalmar, who normally plays for Dunayská Streda (Slovakia), also praised his move to Liverpool and expressed his delight that it is a big deal for Hungary.
“[It’s a club with] fantastic history and it’s fantastic news for Hungarian football, Dominik Szoboszlai deserved it very much!”
“Everyone can be very proud to play for a team like Liverpool. I think he has a great chance of getting into the starting line-up because he has fantastic qualities. He is fully ready for the Premier League.”
At Liverpool, he is expected to play in the position that Jordan Henderson is in charge of. He is expected to combine with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold to break down the right flank.
Taking the position from the captain, which Naby Keita could not achieve, the former FC Lieffering midfielder will be expected to contribute not only in attack but also in defense as a regular…can he have a brilliant career at Anfield?
