After bringing in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool is turning its attention to defensive midfielders. Whether or not they actually make a move for him, they are following developments with Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia as their top target.
However, Chelsea and Arsenal are also interested in the Belgian midfielder, who is also a popular brand name. According to Santi Auna, Chelsea has already presented the terms of the contract to the player and has moved the negotiations one step forward.

However, Southampton has not received any formal offer, and the clubs are in the phase of contacting the player and his agent. According to another report, The Saints is demanding £50m, and Liverpool is unlikely to enter the fray unless the price drops.
With Arsenal also in the market for England midfielder Declan Rice and Italy midfielder Jorginho on the horizon, there is no need to pay a high price to acquire a backup player.
If the reports are correct, Chelsea is leading the race. With the likes of Enso Fernandez, Conor Gallagher in the squad, but with the departures of N’Golo Kanté and Mateo Kovacic, it would make sense for the Belgian midfielder to join the midfield in the squad.
Romeo Lavia is also on Liverpool’s list, but which club will he play for next season?
