Negotiations with Al Ittefaq move forward... Jordan Henderson to discuss with coach Jurgen Klopp later today Transfers

The situation surrounding Jordan Henderson’s transfer to Saudi Arabia has reached a critical juncture. He turned down the first offer made by Al Ettifaq, but the club has reiterated a huge offer. Steven Gerrard is also keen to bring him in, and the club is pushing hard for him.

Liverpool are said to have yet to receive and take a formal offer, but reports are circulating that the former Sunderland midfielder is seriously considering his departure and is inclined to move to the Middle East.

According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Al Ettifaq and Henderson are moving forward and a meeting with coach Jurgen Klopp is expected to take place later today.

The departure of the English midfielder, who has been at the heart of the team since 2015 and has led the players around him, is unexpected for the German coach.

James Milner also moved to Brighton this summer, and the possibility of losing the captain and vice-captain at once is increasing.

He has won every title he could win with Liverpool and has held numerous trophies above his head. While he is an integral part of a team looking for a fresh start after last season’s poor showing, it is no surprise that his playing time is sure to be limited as the midfielders are strengthened, and his match appearances and overwhelming salary are appealing.

If the club’s captain were to leave, he would return to the transfer market in search of a captaincy nomination as well as midfield reinforcements. Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia is the most likely candidate, but will Henderson leave Anfield and Lavia seek a new home at Liverpool?
