Liverpool has successfully strengthened its midfielders, a top priority for the summer, and has welcomed the Argentine and Hungarian internationals into the team.
However, the search for midfielders in the transfer market is on, with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho being linked with a quick trip to Saudi Arabia.
Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia is said to be a top target, and it is no secret that he has been trying to contact his agent. The problem is the asking price, and the club is hesitant to pay the amount his club is asking, and is considering other midfielders as well.
According to Christian Falk, a German journalist, interest in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Koné, whose name has been frequently reported as one of the targets since the opening of the transfer window, has not diminished, and Jorg Schmatke is following the player’s progress.
“Jorg Schmadtke made clear that it won’t happen between Liverpool and Micky van de Ven,”
“At Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is saying what he wants in the market and Schmadkte is making plans from this.”
“We’ve been previously talking about Manu Kone, for example. He had a knee injury at the European U21 Championship, so it will take time, as he can’t pass any medical tests at the moment. So this could be a topic that will be interesting for English clubs like Liverpool.”
“Schmadtke has an eye on him. So these are things in the background that Schmadtke is doing at the moment.”
CaughtOffside
The French U-21 midfielder, who is not expected to be back until the next month or so due to a knee injury, has proven his ability in the Bundesliga and was at one point regarded as the most likely candidate for a move to Liverpool.
The versatile midfielder, who runs all over the pitch with his abundance of athleticism, can be counted on to be an asset.
However, if Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were to leave the club, it would seem that they would ideally target a player with a higher overall value, without denying their lack of role, but what reinforcements will Liverpool make in the future…?
