With the imminent departure of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Liverpool is on the hunt for a successor. The names of French midfielders that were rumored early in the transfer market, such as Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram, have all but disappeared, and now names with Premier League experience are being reported.
At the top of the list is Southampton’s Belgian midfielder Romeo Lavia, a 19-year-old midfielder who played for Manchester City until the summer of 2023, but negotiations with Southampton and Liverpool have not progressed due to the difference in valuation.
Rudy Galletti, an Italian journalist, emphasized that Romeo Lavia is the player Jurgen Klopp would like to sign, but reiterated that the amount of money his club is demanding is too high, which is a bottleneck.
“Romeo Lavia remains a concrete option for Liverpool to strengthen their midfield and is one of the names at the top of their list.”
“I was told the Reds have considered making a concrete move, but they are stalling a bit because the price tag is considered too high.”
“Anyway, we can confirm that he is one of the profiles most appreciated by [Jurgen] Klopp.”
