Never selling for a bargain price... Southampton CEO discusses strategy for selling players Transfers

Relegated from the Premier League, young defender Valentino Livramento joined Newcastle, Duje Caleta-Car and Mohammed Salisu left for France, and Theo Walcott also left the team for free.

Liverpool is now on the aggressive offensive for 19-year-old Belgian midfielder Romeo Lavia, despite two offers, which have not received a positive response at this point.

Liverpool is expected to raise the price and make a third offer. Southampton still has players who could leave even after the Championship starts, but CEO Phil Parsons has made his stance on releasing players clear, assuring that he will not let them go cheaply.

“We won’t be selling assets on the cheap. That’s why we stood firm on a few. We will develop a lot of players over the coming years and there will be players who go on to join top-four clubs”

“But we won’t be doing it at a cheap rate, we will be doing it at the going rate. If clubs want to place offers, we will look at them. We won’t be saying just yes to any offer through the door.”

BBC Radio Solent Sport

With the start of the Premier League season approaching, Liverpool is desperate for a defensive midfielder, so can they make an offer that will convince Southampton, who have remained firm, to bring the 19-year-old midfielder to Anfield…?
