Nathaniel Phillips, a 26-year-old defender, had a performance that saved Liverpool in the 2020-21 season, when there was a string of injuries to the center backs. The following season, he spent much of his time off the bench, unable to overcome the barriers of the returning mainstays of the squad.
In the second half of the season, he was loaned out to Bournemouth, where he contributed to their promotion to the Premier League. It seemed as if the move to Bournemouth was going to go through, but he stayed at Liverpool as the 5th best center back. After barely getting any game time last season, he is expected to leave the club this summer.
Most recently, Leeds United, with new manager Daniel Farke in charge, have increased their interest, and as the regulars continue to leave the club following their relegation from the Championship, they have narrowed their sights on the tall center back, who also has experience in the league.
According to Italian journalist Rudi Galletti, the former Bolton defender’s move to Leeds is moving forward, with negotiations continuing over the price of the transfer. This time it appears that it will not be a loan move, but a permanent transfer.
“Advanced talks between Leeds and Liverpool for Nat Phillips.”
“The parties are discussing some details about the proposal set at ~£10m add-ons included.”
“The English CB has been targeted by Leeds as one of the ideal profiles to replace Wober, now on loan at Gladbach.”

The English sent back was treated like a handyman at Liverpool and never got the opportunities that the 26-year-old deserved, but can he start a new story at a new club…?
