Liverpool blundered in the battle for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Liverpool’s search for a defensive midfielder was back to square one as they missed out on a Belgian midfielder they could have had if only they paid Southampton’s asking price.

However, things took a turn. Stuttgart midfielder Wataru Endo, whose name had never been mentioned, is now a candidate, an agreement has been reached between the clubs, and a medical is scheduled soon.

The player wants to play at Anfield, personal agreement is not an issue, and he will soon be announced as a Liverpool player.

Following the Japanese international captain, Liverpool may be looking for further reinforcements. According to AD Sport, the club is willing to finalize the signing of Moroccan midfielder Sofian Amrabat from Fiorentina in the next few days.

The Moroccan midfielder has been frequently linked with a move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window, but at the moment he is still under contract with Fiorentina.

The player is open to a move to one of Europe’s top clubs, and his agent has been working on a deal since his breakthrough performance at the World Cup in Qatar.

However, the 26-year-old is a bit too old for the club that acquired 30-year-old Wataru Endo. In order to entrust the bottom of the midfield from a long-term perspective, a player at least in his early 20s is preferable, and more specifically, a midfielder with a proven track record in the Premier League should be prioritized.

He is not the best candidate for the job, but will Liverpool step on the gas pedal to acquire him?
