Three midfielders left Anfield when their contracts expired, and two mainstays, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, also sought new homes in Saudi Arabia.

So far, the team has added three players to the squad, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo, and is working on further midfield reinforcements.

While Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who has struggled for playing time at Bayern Munich, and Fluminense midfielder Andre, who continues to improve his reputation in Brazil, are among the main targets, a new midfielder’s name has surfaced.

According to Football Transfers, Liverpool have approached Mats Wieffer, the Dutch midfielder from Feyenoord, but no concrete moves have been made so far. The player has also reportedly rejected a move to Lazio or AC Milan during the summer transfer window.

In his first season with the club, which won the Eredivisie last season, the midfielder has dominated the midfield with a smart and aggressive style of play. The critically acclaimed 23-year-old midfielder has three goals and seven assists in 37 games, including in the Europa League.

With Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo, the Dutchman has a good chance to fit in, but he is still in his first year in the country’s top league and is still inexperienced.

At this point, it is only a rumor, but will Liverpool acquire a new Dutch midfielder?
