Last winter, the Saudi Professional League welcomed one of the world’s most famous soccer players, Cristiano Ronaldo. And this summer, clubs continue to acquire both famous players and promising young talents at a threatening pace in the transfer market.
Neymar, Sadio Mane, Karim Benzema, Riyad Mahrez, Alain Saint-Maximin, Marcelo Brozovic, N’Golo Kanté, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ruben Neves, and Aymeric Laporte are among the distinguished group that decided to go to Saudi Arabia.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho from Liverpool also joined the Middle Eastern club in a transfer deal. Roberto Firmino, whose contract expired at the end of last season, has chosen the Saudi Professional League as his new adventure with a free transfer.
In addition to players, there is no denying that the number of coaches who have proven themselves in Europe, such as Steven Gerrard, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Matthias Yaisle, will continue to arrive in the future.
Similarly, former Liverpool FW Robbie Fowler, who is in charge of Al-Qadsiah (Saudi First Division), has spoken of Saudi Arabia’s true purpose.
“What I will do is tell you the truth as I see it on the ground out here, the link is there because the Pro League is absolutely serious about attracting the best players.”
“I’m talking from the inside here. I know what the plan is – and that is to become one of the top five leagues in the world in the next five to 10 years. And the only way to do that is to invest in real talent.”
“Which is why I wouldn’t rule out Salah coming over here, if not this summer then at some point. And even in this window, you just don’t know, because it is not really down to clubs any more, it’s down to the player.”

As Fowler points out, the possibility of Salah going to Saudi Arabia, and not necessarily this summer, is growing. It seems likely that we will continue to keep an eye on the exciting Saudi Professional League…
