Following the World Cup in Qatar, the German national team took an immediate decision and dismissed coach Hansi Flick following the loss to Japan. The players, visibly unmotivated, played sloppily and conceded four goals to Japan, despite playing at home.

Various managers’ names have been reported for his replacement, including Oliver Glasner, Rudi Völler, Matthias Sammer, and Louis van Gaal, in addition to the now free Julian Nagelsmann as the leading candidate. As usual, Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, is also listed as one of the candidates.

Klopp has a contract with Liverpool that runs through 2026, and he has denied rumors of his appointment whenever his position as Germany’s national team coach has been in jeopardy.

And in response to the speculation that has been circulating again, Marc Kosicke, the German conductor’s agent, has said that he cannot sign a contract with the country’s national team.

“Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and is not available for the national coaching position,”

His interest in German soccer goes without saying, but he is determined to fulfill his contract unless Liverpool’s owners dismiss him, and there is no future for him to be appointed manager of the German national team in the middle of his contract. The same is true of his dual role with the club and national team.

With the national team in a slump, Klopp is a man in desperate need of a manager, and with the German manager turning 59 in 2026, is there any future for him to lead the national team after a decade in charge at Anfield?
