With the increasing age of Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool is looking for a left-handed center back.

Apart from that, they are also looking for someone who can fill in for Trent Alexander-Arnold, and after the forwards and midfielders, they will set their sights on a generational change in the final line.

This includes left back, where regular Andy Robertson will soon turn 30 and is approaching the age where he is no longer physically fit for the intense ups and downs of a tight schedule. Backup Kostas Tsimikas has not performed well enough to establish himself in the starting lineup.

According to Calciomercato, Liverpool are interested in young Boca Juniors defender Valentín Barco and are willing to battle it out with Manchester City and Juventus.

The left back, who can contribute to the attack with his abundant technique, has been rapidly improving his reputation over the past year.

He has been a regular in the starting lineup since the middle of the season and was a mainstay in the team that reached the final of the Copa Libertadores.

The contract is said to have a 10 million euro release clause, and Premier League and Serie A sides are looking to acquire him before he renews his contract until December 2024. It would be a wallet-friendly reinforcement for Liverpool and could be a mainstay for the next 10 years.

Will the young defender, who can also be used at left wingback or midfielder, step up to Europe this winter…?
