Xabi Alonso wants to take over Real Madrid...possibility of remaining in Leverkusen for more than 2 years Transfers

Liverpool is actively searching for a long-term successor to Jurgen Klopp following his surprising announcement last month, and among the leading candidates is Xabi Alonso, who has been lauded for his achievements at Bayer Leverkusen.

The club he leads is undefeated in all competitions and is eight points ahead of second place in the Bundesliga. They have also reached the semifinals of the German Cup and the last 16 of the Europa League.

However, the move for the Spanish coach is not a simple one. Bayern Munich is also interested in finding a replacement for Thomas Tuchel this summer. Leverkusen also intends to keep him after the end of the season.

According to Fussball News, Alonso is trying to turn down offers from Liverpool and Bayern Munich for his long-awaited move to Real Madrid.

Alonso’s contract with coach Carlo Ancelotti runs through 2026, and he may stay at Leverkusen until then before considering a move to the Spanish capital. The club is also looking at him as a possible successor, but due to contractual constraints, it is likely to be more than two years away.

It is a question of timing, but the odds of Xabi Alonso staying in the Bundesliga for two years are unlikely, and now is the perfect time, with offers coming in from the top two clubs, Liverpool and Bayern.

And, as in his playing days, there is no denying that he could bounce around between three clubs, and at 42 years of age, it is not too late for him to find success at Anfield or the Allianz Arena, whatever the order.

Speculation is stirring about Liverpool’s successor, but who will take the helm next season?
