Cork-born goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher joined Liverpool’s lower division as a teenager from his native Ireland.
He has progressed through the academy and has taken over the second goalkeeping position from veteran goalkeeper Adrian in the first team, and is now considered an important member of the team as a reliable reserve goalkeeper.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper has reached two Carabao Cup finals, winning both trophies, but has yet to break the stronghold of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Rumors of his departure from Liverpool have been rife in recent years, with news of his transfer last summer and again this winter.
The goalkeeper is capable of playing regularly for most Premier League clubs, and if he decides to leave the club, many clubs will be looking to acquire him.
However, senior Ireland defender Richard Dunne, who also played for Manchester City, expressed his understanding that a move away may not always be the right decision, even if it means a few days out of action.
“It’s a really tough question because Kelleher is 25 years old and played less than 50 senior games,”
