Xabi Alonso, whom both Liverpool and Bayern Munich, looking for a replacement for Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, respectively, had been in the running for, has changed the wind after deciding to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool are keen on Sporting’s Ruben Amorim, who is their first choice at the moment. While an interview is also reportedly planned, Barcelona, who were seen as rivals, are not obsessed with a battle for the coach, according to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepúlveda.
“Barcelona won’t look at Rúben Amorim to replace Xavi. Confirmed.”
“Liverpool is leading the race to sign the Portuguese Coach. Release clause – €20M.”
“SportingCP could negociate it. Amorim’s focus is now on the Portuguese league and Portuguese Cup.”
