Liverpool have one of the best forward line-ups in the Premier League, with Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo, but they have problems with accuracy in front of goal.
Despite dominating their opponents in terms of shots and shots on target, there are many games where it takes them a long time to score the first goal or add to their tally, and there are many tantalising moments of frustration.
This has been particularly noticeable in recent matches, and poor decision-making has long been a crying need. Former Scotland defender Steve Nicol, who made over 300 appearances for Liverpool in his playing days, said Napoli forward Victor Osimhen should be a target up front, and also suggested the Egyptian winger will be leaving soon.
“The fact that Salah is going to be going, whether it’s this year or next year.”
“Osimhen. I think Osimhen would be fantastic for Liverpool. The middle of the park, we have just signed Mac Allister and Szoboszlai. Endo has turned out to be incredible. He (Nunez) can start out wide.”

The Nigerian striker, who moved to Italy from France in the summer of 2020, has a good physique and a nose for goal, and has scored 74 goals in 128 games for Napoli in total. His long limbs allow him to play in the post, and he has scored 20 goals in 27 games for his country’s full national team since his debut.
The world-class centre-forward has frequently received interest from the cash-rich Premier League, and was linked with a move to England during the summer transfer window last year, with Liverpool, as usual, reported as one of the destinations.
The Nigerian international is an expensive player and it is unlikely that Liverpool will spend a lot of money on just one forward in the future. Centre-backs will also have to be reinforced and the focus will be on more realistic wingers and forwards.
