Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch showed his talent as a teenager at Ajax and earned a step up to Bayern Munich. However, he lost out in the regular competition for places in Germany and spent many days on the bench.

In the transfer window last summer, he joined Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who had been interested in him since his days in Holland, in search of opportunities. He played well in the Europa League, but has struggled to adapt in the Premier League.

The Dutch midfielder is lagging behind the midfielders who joined at the same time, but Galatasaray are keen on the player and could make a move for him this summer, according to Turkish newspaper Fotomac.

Furthermore, it seems that the club also tried to acquire the player on a loan move from Bayern last summer, with an offer of £22 million accompanied by a purchase option. However, the Turkish l-club have not given up and are preparing to contact the player’s agent.

It hasn’t been all plain sailing at Anfield either, with half of his 22 Premier League appearances coming during the season. He scored his first league goal against Fulham the other day, but has not scored or assisted so far.

On the other hand, it needs to be recognised that he is still a young player, only 21 years old. He has enough potential to play well once he gets used to the speed of the game, which is unique to England. If he can continue the performances he showed at Craven Cottage, he could grab a regular place in the team.

There is no reason for Liverpool to release the young midfielder at the moment, and they are not in a position to have to cash in. The possibility that Galatasaray’s interest is genuine cannot be ruled out, but it seems unlikely that a transfer will be concluded this summer.
