It is looking increasingly likely that 32-year-old defender Joel Matip will leave Liverpool with an injury lay-off. The club have been chasing a left-back since last summer, but have so far failed to add a new centre-back to their squad.
Liverpool are once again in the hunt for a centre-back this summer, and rumours are rife of targets, mainly defenders in their early 20s, including Sporting defender Goncalo Inácio and Frankfurt defender William Pacho.
Although slightly older, 26-year-old Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo is also among the candidates. His contract expires in June 2024, allowing him to move on a free transfer, and his departure has been the focus of much attention.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted new information, stating that the former Manchester City defender has decided to leave the London club when his contract expires and several clubs are competing to sign the player.
“Tosin Adarabioyo will leave Fulham as free agent at the end of the season as he’s already informed the club. Final decision made.”
“Despite new contract proposals, Tosin decides to leave and he will be available as free agent with several clubs keen on signing him.”

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool is among the multiple clubs.
Nevertheless, a player with a proven track record in the Premier League, who can play at the top level for the next five years or more, and for whom no transfer fee is involved, would be an attractive prospect for any club.
