Liverpool are already in the running for Frankfurt defender William Pacho this summer Transfers

Former Cameroon defender Joel Matip, who has been out injured for most of the season and whose contract will soon expire, will be leaving Anfield. Filsil Van Dijk is also approaching veteran status and it would be no surprise if he starts to show signs of age-related decline at any time.

Liverpool, looking to rejuvenate their centre-back corps, have shown interest in left-footed centre-backs since last summer. Ecuadorian defender William Pacho, who joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Royal Antwerp during last summer’s transfer window, has also been mentioned as a possible candidate.

Gianluca Di Marzio admitted that he is one of Liverpool’s reinforcement targets for next season and reported that the Reds have already started to make moves to acquire him.

The centre-back, who is under contract until June 2028, has made over 40 appearances throughout the Bundesliga and Conference League and has become an indispensable asset in a team battling for sixth place.

Although he has yet to play much at the top level, he is only 22 years old and his potential is clear for all to see. Not only can he defend, but he also has the speed, pressing, passing and footwork required of a modern centre-back.

Will Liverpool be able to bring in a new South American player…?
