As Jurgen Klopp’s reign comes to an end at Liverpool, the departure of the main squad is attracting a lot of attention. Among them, Egyptian international Mohamed Salah is being linked with Saudi Arabian oil money, while Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are also being linked with moves.
Some are leaving, some are joining. Liverpool have a list of young European forwards, and 21-year-old PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko has long been reported as one of their targets.
According to HLN.BE, Liverpool are also looking to land the player this summer, with his club expected to demand a transfer fee in excess of €50 million from such a club. If this were to happen, it would be a club record transfer fee.
The Belgian forward is a right winger by profession and scores goals with his gifted athleticism. He has been part of the team’s breakdown pattern this season, with 14 goals and 14 assists in 46 games throughout the Eredivisie and Champions League.
He has also been on the pitch for 11 games for Belgium since making his debut in 2023, including during his youth years, and the time is approaching for him to step up from his club from July 2019. He has the potential to play in the Premier League and could be the rightful successor to Egyptian King.
Liverpool are due to be appointed by Arne Slot, who was also in charge at Eredivisie. Having seen the 21-year-old winger play on the touchline, it cannot be ruled out that he could be tapped as the new manager.
Will the Belgian-born winger be looking for a new club this summer?
