With Joel Matip leaving at the end of the season and Virgil Van Dijk in the final stages of his career, it is time for a replacement for the next generation.
Indeed, Liverpool’s search for a centre-back has been ongoing since last summer.
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill and Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio have been reported as leading candidates, but recently the name of Eintracht Frankfurt defender William Pacho has surfaced and is likely to be up for grabs this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist, Liverpool have acknowledged the fact that they rate the player’s ability highly, but reportedly have yet to make a move for him.
“At the moment I’m hearing Pacho has been one of the players that they’ve been monitoring. They’ve been really attentive to the Eintracht situation, so they appreciate the way they play and they believe that there are some players with really good talent there.”
“Liverpool have been scouting and following the player, but there is still no negotiation between clubs or on the player’s side to the club. It’s still early.”

The Ecuadorian defender joined Frankfurt from Royal Antwerp in July 2023 and has been a regular starter since the opening day of the Bundesliga season. He has led the final line in more than 40 games, including in the Conference League.
A modern left-back who has been targeted for some time, he fits in well with Liverpool’s plans for reinforcements, but will they make a move for him?
