New manager Arne Slot will take charge of the new Anfield team. Although the team is unlikely to undergo a major shake-up, reinforcements will be brought in this summer to adapt to the new manager’s preferred style of football and to improve Liverpool’s poor performances towards the second half of the season.
While new defenders will be brought in for the final line, which will be reduced in numbers following Joel Matip’s departure, the club will also look to attackers with attacking potential. In addition to strengthening his scoring ability, the priority is to secure the right man to replace Mohamed Salah, who is now 32 years old.
Former Ireland international John Aldridge, who once made over 100 appearances for Liverpool, claimed that if a new striker is to be acquired, England international Jarrod Bowen, who plays for West Ham United, should be targeted.
“Do we need a new striker? I presume, and it’s only me presuming, that the club will have to let Mohamed Salah go because of financial reasons,”
“And if they do, I’d just go and get Jarrod Bowen”
“I’ve said it before, Bowen, if you look at the players out there. If you can get him that is, with all due respect to West Ham.”
“We have to see if he’s available, and everyone is available at the right price. The likes of Bowen, even Ollie Watkins, they are the types of players forward-wise if Mo goes that we have to be looking at.”
“I don’t think we could get Watkins because Villa are pretty much in the Champions League now. They’re going to keep their players, but they’re two players who would fit the bill for me.”

However, in 2023 he signed a long-term contract until June 2030. He is not known to have a release clause in his contract, but would require a significant transfer fee if he were to be acquired. It would be unrealistic for the England winger to move to Anfield, but what the hell…!
