Liverpool has been home to many of the world’s best scorers, including Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Fernando Torres. In recent years, Egyptian international Mohamed Salah has reigned as the ace of the club, scoring many goals.

A generation ago, Uruguayan international Luis Suárez was a ferocious player. He dominated Anfield as a forward with the physicality and technique to face even the strongest centre-backs, the composure in front of goal and the ability to score in a wide variety of patterns while also providing assists.

The Uruguayan striker scored 82 goals and 34 assists in 133 games for Liverpool, but former England defender Joleon Lescott, who used to play for Manchester City and Everton, revealed that he was never a threat.

“Nah, didn’t get the Luis Suarez…”

“Like, as good as he is and as good as he’s been, I never got nervous playing against Luis Suarez.”

“I think he was great for Liverpool, but I think he was great-er for Barcelona,”

“And I think that kind of gives him a bigger platform. Doing what he did for Barcelona was pretty impressive.”
