Liverpool’s aim to strengthen its academy has seen a number of promising young players from the UK in recent years, including Harvey Elliott, Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, James McConnell and Bobby Clarke.
These young gems have helped the team win the Carabao Cup with academy players at a time when injuries have been high this season, but Liverpool are keen to strengthen further and are scouting in England and Scotland.
According to Academy Scoop, in addition to four other clubs – Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United – Bayern Munich are interested in 15-year-old forward Rio Ngumoha, who is close to leaving Chelsea.
The 2008-born winger has made nine appearances in the U18 Premier League this season and continues to build his reputation around the country, while his EU passport means German clubs are also keen and a battle could develop this summer.
Will Liverpool succeed in securing a young player with the potential to play in the first team in a few years’ time?
