In the transfer market last summer, Liverpool moved to secure a left-footed centre-back. Of the many targets, the most promising was England defender Levi Colwill, who was in talks with Chelsea to extend his contract.
As a result, the 21-year-old centre-back decided to stay in London and signed a long-term contract until 2029.Liverpool did not acquire a defender after that, but have been in earnest to secure a left-footed defender in this summer’s transfer window.
The Chelsea defender, whose movements Liverpool are still keeping a close eye on, has received some heat from the Bundesliga.
According to German Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are listed as the most likely targets, along with Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

After parting company with Thomas Tuchel, his successor, Mauricio Pochettino, also left at the end of the season. With Chelsea going through a period of instability under the American owner, it is no surprise that some players are concerned about their future.
However, Colwill’s background in Chelsea’s lower divisions means that he will not simply want to leave, and the club will not let go of the promising defender. A very expensive transfer fee is likely to be required, but is there a future for the Southampton defender to leave London?
