Former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain became a free transfer when his contract expired with Liverpool at the end of last season. He was plagued by injuries at Anfield and, with the exception of his first season with Arsenal, failed to make any significant impact.
This season, he sought a new home in Turkey and joined Beşiktaş JK. He made 30 appearances over the course of the season, scoring only four goals, and suffered muscular problems along the way, coming off the bench for almost half the time. Although he did not make a spectacular comeback, he has received interest from England.
According to Turkish newspaper Sabah, three Premier League and Championship clubs, including Fulham, Southampton and Sheffield United, have developed an interest in the former Liverpool midfielder and could be in the market for him in the summer transfer window.
The veteran midfielder, who will turn 31 this August, can play on either wing as well as in midfield and has a high level of utility. He has plenty of experience in the Premier League and could be a valuable team member for a number of clubs.
He has only spent one year in Turkey, but will he ever blitz back to England…?
