Liverpool are beginning to move into a new era with new manager Arne Slot. In addition to reinforcing the centre-backs with the departure of Joel Matip, the club are looking to leverage their forward line-up, which has seen a drop in scoring as the season has progressed, and have shown interest in a variety of attackers.
Spanish international Nico Williams, who plays for Athletic Bilbao, has been continuously reported as a target, but reports suggest that Liverpool are not targeting the left winger.
Furthermore, the player himself is said to be keen on a move to Barcelona, making a trip to Anfield unrealistic.
Nevertheless, Glen Johnson, who was a dynamic right-back for Liverpool during his playing days and played many games for England, said that his old club should move for him after his performance at EURO 2024.
“I’ve not seen much of him at club level, but I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen of him at the Euros with Spain. He looks great, but I’m always reluctant to speak about potential transfers of players that have performed well at major tournaments.”
“These players have been looking forward to this competition for a long time and almost every game is a cup final, so you’re always looking to bring your ‘A’ game. Nico’s a young lad that looks the real deal and if he’s doing this week in, week out for Athletic Bilbao, then fair play.”
“However, everyone can look good in a major tournament due to the small number of games played and it shouldn’t be the sole basis for a club to sign a player off the back of their performances at the Euros. If what he’s doing now is his regular level of performance, then Liverpool should definitely try and sign him.”

There are many forwards who can play on the left wing, including Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota, and youngsters such as Ben Doak and Harvey Elliott. The talent is there and no further reinforcements are needed.
What we want most is a left-handed right winger, a future successor to Egyptian international Mohamed Salah.
He would replace the player, who can no longer shake off the opposition defence with his speed and dribbling, and would bring Anfield a player who can lead them to joy.
