After joining Napoli in the summer of 2022, Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia quickly became recognised as one of the best wingers in Europe: in the 2022/23 season, he scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists in 43 games, contributing significantly to the team’s Serie A title victory.
The 23-year-old winger was again a key player last season, scoring 11 goals and providing nine assists in 45 appearances. Although he did not make an impact in his first season with the club, he is one of Italy’s best attackers and continues to attract interest from some of Europe’s best clubs.
Liverpool, who are looking for a new attacking player, are also said to be keeping an eye on the player and, despite rumours of a step up this summer, he has refused to budge on an offer from Paris Saint-Germain and has made a move to the Premier League his top priority, according to the Liverpool Echo.
He has also played at EURO 2024, scoring 16 goals in 33 games for the national team in total. He also contributed to the country’s progress through the group stages and left the tournament with a big impact, despite being outclassed by the Spanish national team.
A huge transfer fee is expected to be required for the player, and Liverpool are unlikely to be able to raise that amount. Furthermore, with a number of left wingers in the squad, including Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota, there is no need for further reinforcements in this position.
If any of these players were to leave, it cannot be ruled out that we could start to strengthen, but at this stage it is not a priority, the budget has to be allocated to securing a centre-back, and in light of the overall balance, it is unlikely that we will be serious about the Georgian winger.
However, there is still a world line of other Premier League clubs looking to acquire him, and will he be tackling his first challenge in England…?
