Dutch midfielder Jeremie Frimpong, who has played for Manchester City and Celtic before joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, had a dominant campaign for the club that won the Bundesliga without defeat last season.
He was also selected for the EURO 2024 squad and has turned into a player that has attracted the interest of many of Europe’s top clubs.
According to Sportsbild, Liverpool have started negotiations with his agent for the young attacking midfielder. It appears that they have confirmed a situation for the player and may be serious about acquiring him.
The 23-year-old side attacker, who is set to sign a €40 million release clause, can also play as a right-back or right winger. In the Dutch national team, he is mainly a right winger, while at club level he is a right wing-back and is frequently seen in front of goal.
With England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold rumoured to be on his way to Real Madrid, he could have a future as a new regular right-back, but he has never been a strong physical competitor and a wing-back or winger position is ideal.
With right-handed wingers in low demand, Liverpool seem to need a left-handed winger to replace Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, but will they go all out for the former Manchester City midfielder…?
