Prepare for a move to Saudi Arabia next summer...Liverpool's intention to extend Mohamed Salah's contract Career

Along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk, Egyptian international Mohamed Salah has less than a year remaining on his Liverpool contract.

Saudi Arabia’s interest, which has been ongoing since last summer, has not disappeared and they are following the player’s progress.

His contract expires in the summer of 2025 and Liverpool are moving to sign a new deal, with the club said to be looking to acquire him on a free transfer.

Egyptian King also wants to compete in Europe and is likely to play at Anfield for at least the rest of the season.

Discussions with manager Arne Slot and Richard Hughes are expected to take place this summer. Ben Jacobs, a sports journalist, speculated on the intentions of renewing the player’s contract and said the aim may be to make the Saudi club pay big money next summer.

“With Mo Salah, the preference is for him to extend him as well, but if he does depart for Saudi in 2025 there may be less concern given Salah’s age and the fact he is to stay on for at least one more season.”

“Extending Salah is perhaps more with a view to protect his value and force Saudi deal-makers to pay a big fee in 12 months’ time.”

He has not shown as much speed as he did in his prime, and last season found it difficult to shake off opposition left-backs.

Nevertheless, his left-footed chance-making and composure in front of goal are still there, and he has no intention of giving up his position as the team’s ace.

The former Roma winger could focus more on assists in the new season, but will he agree a contract renewal with Liverpool and leave for the Middle East next summer…?
