Since joining Liverpool, Egyptian international Mohamed Salah has been part of the front three and has contributed to the team’s victories with a number of goals and assists, but now over 30, he has lost the speed and dribbling ability of his heyday, but is still involved in many goals as a chance maker.
They are looking for a goal-scoring forward to replace Egyptian King, who is receiving strong interest from Saudi Arabia. A wide variety of players are on the list, mainly left-handed right wingers, while centre forwards and left wingers are also among the candidates.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are expected to enter the race for Sporting forward Viktor Gyökeres, and could be in contention with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old striker, who moved to Portugal from Coventry in July 2023, has shown a high scoring rate in his first attempt. He scored 43 goals and 15 assists in 50 games last season and scored six goals in 20 games for Sweden.
The big striker, whose main position is centre-forward, is said to have a £86 million release clause in his contract, making it infinitely more unlikely that Liverpool will make a move for him. There is also Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez, who is also a low priority for reinforcements.
It is unlikely that the Swedish international will step up to the Premier League this summer, but he could have a chance if he can continue to produce results in the new season.
