The forwards lost their decisiveness in front of goal in the second half of last season. Liverpool are also looking for a new attacker to replace Egyptian international Mohamed Salah. In addition, a replacement for Virgil Van Dijk must also be found, with the focus on centre-backs.

Liverpool’s priority is to strengthen up front and at the back, but rumours of midfield reinforcements are constantly circulating. Various types of midfielders have been named, with Japan midfielder Wataru Endo approaching the veteran age of 31 and 19-year-old midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, who is aiming for a complete revival this season, still lacking experience.

Assuming none of this is true, a new name has emerged in a Liverpool side that has completed a very voluminous list. According to Anfield Watch, manager Slott is looking for a defensive midfielder with good technique, and Dutch midfielder Joey Veerman has made the list.

He was involved in many scoring situations for his club PSV Eindhoven, scoring 7 goals and 19 assists in 41 games last season. He has also played in the Champions League and Europa League and was called up to the Dutch squad for EURO 2024.

He can also play at the bottom of midfield, but his main position is one row forward. He is like Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for Liverpool, and can perform at a certain level either high up or low down the midfield.

However, he is not a strong ball-winning player and cannot be a direct rival to Endo or Bajcetic. At the moment, he is not a priority in the reinforcement plan and it is difficult to envisage a future in which Liverpool will make a move for him.

So what sort of career awaits the 25-year-old Dutch midfielder…?
