The Jurgen Klopp era has come to an end and the new Arne Slot regime has started at Liverpool. The players who built the golden era with the German coach are now approaching veteran status, and a generational change is required in various positions.
The club will be looking at young players who could replace Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in this summer’s transfer window, and are expected to start planning for a goalkeeper replacement. And Liverpool have shown interest in the Georgia goalkeeper, who also played a big part in EURO 2024.
According to Relevo, Liverpool have listed Valencia’s 23-year-old goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili as a replacement for the Brazilian goalkeeper and are preparing a €30 million offer to conclude the move this summer.
The player has made a total of 100 appearances for the Spanish club, but Liverpool could implement a plan to have him play for Valencia or English clubs on loan this season and install him as a full-fledged Anfield defender next season.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who is under contract with Liverpool until June 2027, is said to be envisaging a future away from Anfield before his contract expires. Rumours of a move for Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher have also been rife, and the goalkeeping squad could be revamped next season.
Veteran goalkeeper Adrian also left the team after his contract expired last season, and the transition to a new team is likely to begin in earnest.
