Liverpool are committed to acquiring Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who plays for Real Sociedad. They have tried to persuade the player and a decision is awaited on whether he will stay at San Sebastian or take on a new challenge at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Liverpool, who have listed various midfielders, have also shown interest in Newcastle’s Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. Ben Jacobs (sports journalist) reported that an enquiry has already been made, but that a tremendous offer would be required to acquire him.
“Liverpool also made an enquiry about Bruno Guimaraes, and those close to the Brazilian are yet to rule out late-window drama, even though the Newcastle midfielder has said he is happy at St James’ Park.”
“Guimaraes’ £100m release clause has now expired and it would take an astronomical offer from any suitor to prompt an exit before the window shuts. Manchester City remain the more likely bidder, but value Guimaraes at closer to £80m.”
