Liverpool have tried to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi at the request of manager Arne Slot, but so far have failed to land anyone. The possibility of ending this summer’s transfer window without reinforcements has been in the air.

Recently, however, there have been numerous reports of interest in the left-back. Names such as Argentina Under-23 defender Julio Soler, Belgium defender Maxim De Cuyper and Algeria defender Rayan Aït-Nouri have been in the media.

A new left-back has joined them. According to L’Equipe, they are interested in Rennes defender Adrien Truffert, who was also part of the France U-23 squad at the Paris Olympics.

The 22-year-old side-back has made a total of 117 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring five goals and providing 16 assists. He has also pitched in 16 matches in the Europa League and was selected for the French national team in September 2022.

In the summer, he was given the starting left-back role in Thierry Henry’s France U-23 squad and played from the start of every match, with the exception of the third group stage match against New Zealand. Although he lost to Spain in the final, he has improved his reputation throughout the tournament.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest are also following the player, while Paris Saint-Germain, who make major reinforcements every year, are also interested in the young defender.

However, left-back is not a priority for Liverpool. England defender Joe Gomez has been linked with an exit, but with Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas also in the squad, securing a centre-back should be a priority.

So can Liverpool bring in anyone before the end of the transfer window this summer…?
