Having lost the tug-of-war with Real Sociedad over Martin Zubimendi, Liverpool have turned their attention to Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili as a long-term replacement for defender Alisson Becker rather than move for the defensive midfielder.
Although the Georgia goalkeeper has a personal agreement with Liverpool, including a loan move to Bournemouth, no club-to-club agreement has been reached.
The reason is that Liverpool’s offer has not reached Valencia’s asking price, and they are aiming to agree a transfer fee of €35 million plus bonuses.
According to Hector Gomez (Spanish journalist), the player’s agent agrees with Liverpool’s valuation and is continuing to put pressure on his club, insisting to Valencia that the same amount is the right amount in the current market.
“Giorgi Mamardashvili’s exit operation is in Liverpool’s hands. If the English do not raise the offer presented last week, the Georgian goalkeeper will stay at Mestalla.”
