Colombian international Luis Diaz moved from Porto to Liverpool in the winter of 2022. Since then, he has been a stalwart in Jurgen Klopp’s regime, scoring 24 goals and assisting 13 in 99 games, and even started the opening game of the season against Ipswich Town in Arne Slot’s new team.
The 27-year-old winger, who led his country to runners-up in the Copa America this summer, was reportedly being courted by Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. However, no moves have been made at the moment, and he is likely to remain at Anfield for the rest of the season.
According to Sport, after failing to land Spanish international Nico Williams, Barcelona had attempted to acquire long-time target Colombian attacker, but Liverpool had ruled him out for sale and rejected moves from the Catalan club.
Liverpool have since changed their mind about the player, but it seems unlikely that Diaz will leave Anfield unless a huge offer is made, and despite the prospect of a demand of €60-65 million, it is not a sum that Barcelona can financially afford to raise.
The Spanish club, with new coach Hansi Flick in charge, have switched to cheaper players available and are open to acquiring Italy international Federico Chiesa, who has been ruled out of the squad at Juventus.
The 27-year-old left winger, who has been a Barcelona fan since childhood and has been dished out by his father, is likely to continue his Premier League winning ways at Liverpool.
