It doesn't change too much...Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker on manager Arne Slot's style of play Team

Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker is one of the world’s best players as Liverpool’s guardian deity, saving the team with numerous saves, but also as a sweeper keeper who can defend the space behind the final line.

Arne Slot took over as coach this season, and throughout pre-season he has tried a different midfield structure from the Klopp era, playing a more possession-oriented football, and due to EURO 2024 and Copa America, there has been little training time, including for the main players, and the whole team is still trying to get used to the new system on a daily basis. The whole team is still in the process of working on this.

The defensive midfielders have had to play different roles, but the former Roma goalkeeper revealed that the rearmost goalkeeper has not been affected significantly.

On the other hand, he expressed his delight at having more players playing closer together in order to build the ball from a lower position.

“From all the things that he [Slot] asks, it doesn’t change too much because in the end on the pitch it’s our decision,”

“We have to read the game, we have to understand where we can play, where we can’t – sometimes taking risks but calculated risks, not making silly mistakes but always trying to play.”

“Arne is a manager that likes to create from behind a lot with short passes to create spaces where we can hurt the opponent.”

“For me it didn’t change too much, but I think for the team it changes a little bit more the formation. But for me it’s been great – I have more players to play together closer to me.”

“If we can do that with consistency, if we can do that in every game, in an intense way, defending really good, being compact, I think we can achieve great things for the season.”
