Former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left Liverpool in the summer of 2023 when his contract expired and sought a new home in Turkey. He was plagued by injuries at Anfield, a trend that has continued at Beşiktaş, and has failed to make a significant impact.
The 31-year-old midfielder has a proven track record in the Premier League, but is increasingly likely to return to England in a year, with several clubs from the Premier League showing interest in him in this summer’s transfer market as the deadline approaches.
According to TBR Football, five clubs are exploring the move, including West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Brentford.
In total, he scored 20 goals and 28 assists in 198 games for Arsenal and also scored 18 goals and 15 assists in 146 games for Liverpool. He is capable of starting in the top flight even now, barring injury, and could be a valuable asset for a mid-table or lower-tier club.
He also has the utility to play not only in midfield but also as a winger, an ability that managers will appreciate. In the overcrowded Premier League, it is understandable that managers would want to bring in a player who can play in a variety of positions.
Will the midfielder, who has also made 35 appearances for England, return to his homeland from Turkey this summer?
