Liverpool are looking again at Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane while Arsenal and Newcastle also interested

Liverpool alumni heavily promote Bayern winger Leroy Sane as the successor to Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah Transfers

The winger’s name was frequently discussed in the media as a potential successor to Egyptian international Mohamed Salah ahead of the opening of the transfer window this summer. As a result, the club succeeded in securing back-up by acquiring Italian international Federico Chiesa, who had been out of contention at Juventus.

However, the question is how far the former Juventus forward, who has been injured in recent years and has yet to regain top form, can go in his first Premier League season. In addition, it will depend on whether Egyptian King agrees to renew his contract.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are chasing targets in case things go wrong, and one of them appears to be German international Leroy Sané, who plays for Bayern Munich. Arsenal and Newcastle United are also interested as well.

The 28-year-old winger, who previously played for Manchester City, has made 175 appearances for the German powerhouse club, scoring 48 goals and providing 50 assists. He has also scored 13 goals in 65 games for his country’s full national team and is recognised as one of the best attackers in the Bundesliga.

In Bayern, where the club’s management team has not been settled recently and several managers have been replaced, he has often started on the bench, depending on the manager’s preference.

This season, with Vincent Kompany’s new team, he has not been able to establish himself in the starting line-up, partly due to injuries.

The left-handed winger, who will be 29 next January, has plenty of experience in England and the Champions League. His current contract is also coming to an end in June 2025, and if he continues in this way, talks could be held next year for a free transfer.

Interest from Liverpool in the player has been reported on several occasions. However, none of these were realistic and no concrete moves were made this summer. He is hardly a successor to Salah due to his age and may not be the player they need now that they have Chiesa.

However, if he can be acquired without a transfer fee, he could be the right man for a number of top teams. Will the German attacker ever play in the Premier League again?
