Girona finished third in La Liga last season, behind Real Madrid and Barcelona. The Catalan club’s huge breakthrough, which saw them finish ahead of the likes of Atletico Madrid, attracted interest from all over Europe.
According to CaughtOffside, three Premier League clubs from Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa are keen on the club’s right winger, Ukrainian international Viktor Tsygankov, and left back, former Spain U-21 international Miguel Gutiérrez. They appear to be on the hot seat.
The 26-year-old right winger decided to go to Spain from Dinamo Kiev in the winter of 2023. Last season was his first full season with Girona, where he contributed to the team’s progress with impressive figures of eight goals and seven assists in 34 games.
He is also a regular in his country’s full national team, making 57 appearances for Ukraine and scoring 13 goals. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old left-back made a full transfer from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. Last season he made 40 appearances on the pitch and provided nine assists, an impressive figure.
Both have current contracts until June 2027. According to the newspaper, their clubs are open to selling the two players this winter and are ready to negotiate if the right offer arrives. However, it is likely to cost as much as €70 million for the Ukrainian international and €75 million for the former Spain U-21 defender.
As the position is not a priority for Liverpool, it is unlikely that they will launch a battle in the transfer market this winter. It is also unlikely that the Reds will allocate a budget for a transfer fee in excess of €70 million, unless the price drops.
