21-year-old midfielder Xavi Simons made his presence felt in attack as a member of the Dutch national team at EURO 2024.This season, he joins RB Leipzig on loan from Paris Saint-Germain following last season, looking to further develop in the Bundesliga.
The attacking midfielder was a hot property in the transfer market this summer after a rampant season last season, scoring 10 goals and assisting 15 in 43 games. He can play in several positions up front, including left and right wing and up top, and is a superb ball handler.
Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the transfer market, revealed that rumours of a move away from RB Leipzig were floating around for the player, and it would not be surprising to see a battle involving several clubs, including Liverpool, next summer.
“One of the players being considered around Europe in the summer was, for sure, Xavi Simons,”
“He’s always been in the media, and there have always been rumors.”
“I always told you ‘Leipzig, Leipzig, Leipzig’ in the summer because they were pushing, and in the end the player decided to continue in Germany to give Leipzig an opportunity to win titles. In summer 25 he will formally return to PSG but remember this; the expectation is still for Xavi Simons to try something different.”
“It’d be a pure guess job at the moment as no club has planned anything for him but, for sure, top clubs will keep monitoring his progress at Leipzig.I’m sure there’s a good chance for Xavi to leave PSG on a permanent transfer in 2025, but it’s not something already agreed with Liverpool or any other club.”
