After impressive performances for Nijmegen and Club Brugge, Dutch international Arnaut Danjuma moved fully to Bournemouth and played in England for two seasons; in the summer of 2021 he moved to Villarreal, where he was highly determined, scoring 24 goals in a total of 54 games.
He tried his hand in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton on loan, but with unsuccessful results. He joined Girona on loan in the summer transfer window, making his debut for the Dutch national team back in 2018 and has scored two goals in six games so far.
The 27-year-old forward revealed the fact that Arne Slot’s Feyenoord were interested in him before he moved to Everton on loan in the summer of 2023. And he said he would not say ‘no’ if he was approached by Liverpool with the Dutchman in charge.
“[In 2023] Feyenoord had shown a bit more interest in me. That was mainly when Arne Slot was the coach there.”
“I considered it at the time and spoke to Slot. I am a fan of his style of play and have a lot of confidence in him as a coach, but I thought at the time that it was not the right step for me. I think Girona is also a good step now, which suits my career.”
“As a player you have to be ambitious and if a big club comes, you should always consider it. I don’t think there will be many people sitting at the table there who would say no to Liverpool.”

The 27-year-old attacker was linked with a move to Liverpool during Jurgen Klopp’s reign. Only club insiders know how far he was considered, but after watching him play for Tottenham and Everton, it was a good decision not to take him.
Liverpool, who have moved into a new era, will not look at the Dutch winger again. He is lacking in ability and has a high level of players on the left wing with Luis Diaz and Cody Gacupo.
