Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Brighton last summer. Accustomed to the Premier League, he was a regular and outstanding performer from the start of the season and continued to play at the top level throughout the season.
This season was no different, and although his position and role changed slightly when his partner was replaced by Ryan Gravenberch, he fitted in effortlessly with a high level of adaptability.
The two players at the bottom of midfield have been a key factor in the team’s success and have been vital in winning the Premier League.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who also won the Copa America this summer, mentioned the differences between Arne Slot, who took over as manager this season, and Jurgen Klopp, who led the team until last season. He said that there were no major differences, but that the current style of play had to be upgraded.
“I think between Arne and Jürgen the principles are the same so as I said, I don’t think there is a huge difference. I just think that now we have more of a structure and some patterns that we know and are trying to improve, so that is the main difference but apart from that there is not much to add.”
“At the same time, we are just talking about Ryan, Dom and me but we have amazing players as well like Curtis [Jones], [Wataru] Endo, Harvey [Elliott]. All of them are very important and that’s what we want: to compete between us and to get better.”
“Well now that the games come thick and fast then it is a little bit harder to prepare for the games as much as we want, but he is definitely an amazing manager.”
“You can see the way he speaks, from the first day we understood what he wants from us, and I think that’s the main thing in a coach: try to get the idea he has in his players and I think we are getting there, but there is still room for improvement.”
