More than new players, Liverpool still has a priority task. That is the negotiation of contract renewals for Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whose contracts will expire in June 2025.
It is believed that negotiations are being conducted underwater, but no good news has been received at this stage.
Liverpool insider James Pearce revealed that Van Dijk is closer to a contract extension than Salah or Trent, and praised the 33-year-old Dutch defender for the high ability he continues to show.
“I was told that dialogue with the representatives of Salah, Van Dijk, and Trent is open and ongoing. And, you know, like everyone, I hope a positive resolution can be reached, because for me, Van Dijk should be the easiest of the three to sort out.”

He has also been given the captaincy under Arne Slott, and his leadership in the final line is still strong.Last season he returned to a level of play reminiscent of his prime, and remains world-class not only as a leader but also as a defender.
Liverpool are believed to be open to renewing his contract, but will there be an official announcement from the club any time soon?
