Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk has been rocked by contract issues and is now a veteran player at 33 years of age, while 27-year-old defender Joe Gomez is said to be the subject of interest from Newcastle United and Aston Villa, with the arrival of a new centre-back imminent.
There are no reports of Liverpool’s interest at the moment, but Dutch defender Sam Beukema, who Arne Slot was keen to acquire when he was in charge of Feyenoord, is keen to play in the Premier League and has been linked with offers from West Ham United and Liverpool, who he was originally a fan of.He said he would be happy to respond to offers.
“I also have ambitions and hope one day to be able to play maybe in the Premier League or another big club,”
“I was a fan of West Ham.”
“I once visited Upton Park with my father and I was really impressed, because the atmosphere was similar to that of Feyenoord or Go Ahead Eagles.”
“But there are so many fantastic teams in England, so if another great club like Liverpool came along I would be happy to go there one day.”

Head coach Slot showed interest when he was a member of Go Ahead Eagles. He invited him to join Feyenoord, but he ended up joining AZ Alkmaar. He played there for two years and got a move to Bologna in the summer of 2023.
Last season he played 33 games and was an absolute regular. This season he is again positioned as a mainstay and has started all but one game since the start of the season.
Although he has struggled this season, he made a significant contribution to the fifth-place finish in Serie A last season.
It is unlikely that Liverpool will make a move for him due to his experience and individual ability, but will the Dutch captain turn his attention back to the centre-back he once targeted?
