Irish goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher, who has established himself as Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper in recent years, has been available during the period Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been injured and in cup competitions, but he is not guaranteed to play every week.

Nevertheless, in the games he has played, he has saved the team with his consistency and exquisite shot-stopping, and is highly regarded as one of the best second-choice goalkeepers in the world, regardless of the Premier League, but he is likely to leave Anfield next year when Giorgi Mamardashvili joins the club.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who joined Liverpool’s academy in 2015 and has gained steady development, insists that his relationship value with the regular goalkeeper is good and that he has learnt a lot from training with some of the best goalkeepers in the world.

“I am not looking at it as anything other than I have an opportunity to play a few games, so I want to do as well as I can,”

“There is no point making this a bigger picture than it is. It is just me getting the opportunity to play some games.”

“I am good mates with Ali [Allison]. We are close so I sent him a text to say sorry about the injury. It is not nice for him and I don’t like to see that happen to anyone.”

“It has been beneficial for me training with someone of such high quality. You obviously learn from that and it brings you on.”

The player played a lot of Premier League games last season, and is likely to get plenty of action again this season with Alisson out injured. It would further increase his market value and prompt clubs to pay the transfer fee set by Liverpool.
